Registry Policy Update, Shortened .TZ Expiry Period
- Tuesday, September 23, 2025

Dear Route Africa client,
The .TZ registry has announced a change to the domain life cycle that affects all .tz domain names.
What’s changing (effective 24 September 2025, 00:00 EAT):
-
The Expired state is reduced from 30 days to 7 days.
-
If a domain is not renewed by Day 7 after expiry, it will move out of zone (DNS suspended), causing website, email, and other services to stop resolving.
What this means for you
-
Please renew your .tz domains before their expiry date to avoid any service interruption.
-
If you rely on grace windows, note that the Expired period is now much shorter—only 7 days.
Recommended actions
-
Enable Auto-Renew in your Route Africa client area for all critical domains.
-
Verify your contact email/phone in the client area so you don’t miss reminders.
-
Ensure sufficient funds/valid payment method for timely renewals.
-
If your domain has already expired, renew it immediately to prevent it from going out of zone after Day 7.
If you need help reviewing your portfolio or turning on Auto-Renew, our team is ready to assist.
